Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
by Colby on October 25th, 2021
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
