Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
by Colby on June 26th, 2021
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
