Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
by Colby on December 27th, 2015
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money games?
