When are You Going to Learn that Texas Hold’em Poker is About Seating!

I have been wagering poker now for about 5 years, I’ve wagered cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head game. I used to usually win, whatever game we were betting and although I liked to call it skill, it was quite hard to warrant thinking about the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was happy to accept I was having an extended run of luck.

Then came Poker, or more importantly Hold’em Poker, made popular by a group of Texas card players in the 1960’s and since developed into one of the biggest card phenomena ever experienced. Poker is totally the new black, it really is ultra cool with many of the world’s top celebrities racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels nowadays and you can not escape from poker, and needless to say there’s the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each single gambler.

So with all of this fresh found recognition, with so many Television programmes devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with quality material written by the top minds on poker, when are folks going to learn that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I ought to not receive so worked up about this, after all the additional people who struggle with the delicate techniques and approaches needed for succeeding regularly at Texas holdem, the better it’s for everyone else, appropriate? I mean, if they can’t be bothered to read all of the readily available information about why position is so significant, why should we bother? We must just be happy there’s one more fish at the table!

It’s true, we should not reward procrastination with guidance and aid. Nevertheless, I liken this to a helpful casino game of football. Granted the levels aren’t so great, except when you see a player having difficulties, you support them, offer them some advice, ultimately showing them a method to like, really like and be grateful for the casino game as much as you. I’m calling on all house players to do a similar thing with their poker buddies who have not quite got a handle on the nuances of playing position. Aid them to grow their respect for the casino game. Obviously, do not attempt to try this one in your nearby casino, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you instructing their supper how to swim!
